Surprise? Fuller Theological Seminary Accepts LGBT Group

The nation’s first LGBT student club sanctioned by a major evangelical seminary is causing  a stir by announcing it will hold several gay rights rallies on campus this fall.

Fuller’s policy, in case you were unaware: Students can “come out” but they can’t have sex, be politically active or challenge a school policy that states homosexual sex is “inconsistent with the teachings of Scripture.”

Nick Palacios identifies himself as a gay evangelical Christian seminarian, and president of the nation’s first LGBT student club sanctioned by a major evangelical seminary. The group, called OneTable, formed last fall at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, one of the world’s largest multi-denominational seminaries, and has attracted about three dozen students.

    How is it a homosexual can claim to be a 'gay Christian'? According to God's own word, homosexuals will NOT enter into His kingdom; from 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 – "Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

    According to the article, homosexual Nick Palacios states "It quickly became apparent to me that I was going to be OK and that I wasn't going to have to forsake my faith for my sexuality," Palacios said of his struggle for acceptance." Apparently Mr. Palacios has never read 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, nor has he read verse 11, " And such were some of you: but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God."

    'Such were some of you' speaks of a forsaking of former sins, not continuing to wallow in them. This clearly speaks of repentance, something Mr. Palacios knows nothing of. As for the 'faith' he claims he has and will not have to forsake because of his 'sexuality', his faith is not genuine, it is no better than that of demons. His 'sexuality' is a nice way of covering up his abomination, his sexual perversion. He is not a regenerated child of God; what he is is deceived. Unless God has re-birthed the unregenerate, they are still in their sins. Just because someone says they are a 'Christian' does not mean they are; prayerfully, God will intervene and truly save this unregenerate Sodomite.

    As for Fuller, what a joke! Should it be surprising that a liberal seminary would allow such a thing? Inviting sin in will lead to destruction. When God's word is not adhered to in the strictest sense and form, sin will invade and take over. Sin disguises itself through tolerance, rights, etc and then demands acceptance. Departing even slightly from God's truth on sin and not standing on that truth will cause God to depart as well.

      I think we are seeing the fruit of the seeker sensitive movement in all of this…churches and seminaries now filled with goats, not true believers, and these goats are gaining positions of leadership within evangelicalism. They call themselves Christians, but have never repented and turned from their sin. Jesus is not Lord and His Word can be ignored or twisted to mean whatever they 'feel' is right….whatever affirms them in their sin. The true church may have to underground one of these days..

        You nailed it Rose; America is in desperate need of grace and mercy. May God raise up men who will stand up and boldly profess His truth, calling sin what it is, preaching repentance, and proclaiming Christ's death, burial and resurrection. If God does not intercede, America will cease to exist.

        I see exactly what you see, the church will have to meet in secret because wickedness is increasing and darkness is growing darker. Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!

    The very first commenter to that article at Huff Post summed it all up:

    "Baby steps. Gay people are everywhere with many of us fighting and doing the work for acceptance in our communities. It is inevitable that we will be accepted; it is simply a question of how much time it will take. It sure will go a lot faster if fundamentalist Christians recognize that homosexuals are part of their faith and start accepting them."

    Yeah…and what will happen to us 'fundamentalist Christians' if we don't accept homosexuality as part of our faith…hmmm? Do a little jail time for 'hate'?….lose a job?….be run out of town? Tolerance works only one way for these people. So they not only want legalized sodomy in the form of gay 'marriage', they also want to hijack evangelicalism in order to change what it means to be a Christian and lead our young people to accept a false gospel and another Jesus.

    Romans chapter one is crystal clear, but it must not be in their Bibles.

    Well they say they aren't to protest the schools policy on such topics as this. Well, you should never of opened the door to this in the first place as now you have given them to in to start the protest against the policies in place.
    It appears nobody learns from history when it comes to such adversaries and the gay and lesbians is just an example. Maybe this is what the Fuller Seminary wants and has opened the door to what they really want from the group of such. You give someone and inch and they will take a mile, so get prepared for your policies to be changed and accommodate the sin that comes with this group. Is it a sin? Just read scripture and let the Bible be the leader in moral and ethical ways in dealing with this topic.
    Sounds like this University is going to the seeker sensitive style to please peoples feelings instead of speaking the truth.


  4. So glad Fuller has taken this step and good to see that LGBT students are challenging a discriminatory policy. Rose and Lyn might not be aware that many major Christian denominations have already made the theological study to affirm and accept LGBT people into full Christian life. Hopefully theological students, and I'm assuming Rose and Lyn are, don't just digest what others tell them but search scripture for themselves and talk to gay Christians for their witness to God's work in their lives. Testimony is the basis of everyone's Christianity. If you question the testimony and witness of gay Christians, who's to stop others from questioning yours? They are founded on the same premise: that God has come into your life. Do you want people to doubt YOUR relationship with God? Our Christianity rests on faith alone, and no one else can determine your faith. God bless ALL Christians, gay and straight.

      Jerome, I am not concerned what false religion does, I am only concerned with upholding the word of God. The basis of my Christianity is NOT my testimony, it is the atoning sacrificial work of Christ and the grace of God who saved me.

      Now, as for 'gay Christian', there is no such thing. If you are living the homosexual life, you are not a Christian. The Bible commands repentance, which is a change of mind about your wickedness; this leads to a changed way of living. Homosexuality is forbidden by God, starting with Leviticus 18:22 and continuing on thru 20:13, Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. Let's look there – Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."
      Verse 11 is what you need to make not of – 'and such WERE some of you'; here is a picture of repentance, of a forsaking of sin by the one God has saved and granted repentance to. If homosexuals do not repent, they prove their are not of Christ.

      If true born from above followers of Christ love sinners, we will tell them the truth, that the wrath of God is on them because of their sins. They are wicked, vile, and an abomination to the Lord who is thrice holy. God's word commands, it doesn't give you a choice, it commands repentance and believing only on Christ's finished work for reconciliation back to a holy God.

      From the beginning, God laid out what is acceptable, in marriage and sex – 'herefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh'. Genesis 2:24 This is the God-ordained covenant of marriage – one man, one woman. How serious does God take intimacy between one man and one woman? "Let marriage be had in honour among all, and let the bed be undefiled: for fornicators and adulterers God will judge." Hebrews 13:4 The marriage bed should not be defiled by adultery, or sexual immorality. Those who cheat on their husband or wife and do not repent, God will judge. Those who live together, or have casual sex outside the covenant of marriage, God will judge. Those who practice same sex sex God will judge. God has made this very clear in His word, it's only when man twists truth that it no longer becomes truth.
      What we presently see in the religion of man is found in Romans 1:32, 'Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.'

      When you embrace what God calls sin, condone it, promote it, and mock those who don't, you prove you are void of true regeneration done by God's supernatural power and that you are not of God.

      God have mercy on all who name the name of Christ, yet continue to wallow in their filth.

      "What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? " Romans 6:1-2
