Do NOT be surprised

Mega SurpriseFor most of our listeners, the headline events in the past few days don’t come as a surprise. We along with others have been sharing the trends, movements and anti-biblical events both in the culture and in the visible Church. Events that have shaken the foundations of this nation. This week, a lot of complacent Christians awoke with a jolt, turned on the news and exclaimed, “what in the world just happened?”

With Thursday’s rulings favoring homosexual marriage by the nation’s highest court, we awoke to the truth: That there is an even higher court; that equipping the saints just took a step up on the urgency ladder.

You say in your post… "there is an even higher court; that equipping the saints just took a step up on the urgency ladder."

There is a problem, though, and it's been going on for a very long time. The problem is that the saints really don't want to be equipped. The saints have lost the vision of the purposes and agenda of God, which are:

    1. He is looking to have a people who are fully committed to Him, His purposes & His agenda.

    2. He is after a people who will express the very life & nature of the Lord, Jesus, in the midst of a sick, dying world.

We may nod our heads & say "Amen" to statements like that, but we're too busy or apathetic to actually take hold of it.

Also, with the churches being a mixed multitude, it really adds to the problem.

Thanks for the post and for taking the time to thoughtfully kick this subject around a bit.

One implied assumption of your post seems to be that all who claim to be saints are saints, when this is not actually the case.True saints, by the grace of God, desire to be equipped. False converts do not, however much they may claim or pretend to be in the "true saint" camp.

I definitely agree with the sentiment that many professing (and even many actual) Christians are deeply entrenched in an apathetic attitude and worldview, but, by His grace, that is changing, and He will equip His people perfectly for the mission at hand.

My using the term "mixed multitude" does not imply that all who claim to be saints are saints ;>D

Yes, we may desire to be equipped, but, the "church" being what it is, it can be much more difficult than necessary. Should we leave things that are amiss as they are? This is why I am speaking out on these issues.

Some might say, "But God doesn't need you, or anyone else, to speak out. He will have His way."

To that I would say, "the Lord WILL have His way and prevail, but I believe He does this actively… in and through His people. "He is the head, and He operates primarily through His body."
