“Love is all you need,” but is it enough anymore?

Español: Lobo en el zoo de Kolmården (Suecia).

For the past couple of years now, we’ve been alerting you to the growing number of movements and trends that are harming the Body of Christ, and I’m not talking about things from outside, but from within. It has been getting more and more challenging for Christians to navigate these waters of confusion and a growing number of attacks on God’s Word, again from within the Church.

Time and time again we hear arguments from those leaders who don’t want to deal with this head on. Instead they will scold those who are trying to help protect the sheep, by saying things like, “we should simply concentrate on preaching Christ crucified and risen.” And that’s a great focus. If Christendom had done that in the first place rather than embracing these other worldly trends, we wouldn’t need to be here.

Today we are going to ask this question: How can Christ-followers avoid deception that would lead them away from Christ crucified and risen if we ignore the problem?  Joining us in our first segment today is Eric Barger. Eric’s Take A Stand! Ministries confronts both the culture and the Church, focusing on the troubling unbiblical trends and doctrinal issues facing Christians.

  1. Mr Davis says:

To avoid deception you put into practice what God's word says to do when we gather together.

It is the fool that brings many words to bear so give room for one another to speak and let all examine what is said.

Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted 1 Corinthinas 14:29-30

Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil. Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thinga before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few. For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.

For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God. Ecclesiastes 5:1-3,7

We are to question one anothers understanding of the scriptures and to examine the faith of one another and to bring our lives and attitudes under scrutiny to see if we are walking in the faith.

Philippians 3:17-19 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

Look to Paul who laid down his will to do the will of Christ who sent Paul to the gentiles that they may learn how to walk in faith and what obedience to the law of Love looks like. He bore the marks of Christ in his own flesh which he suffered for his terstimony of Christ.

Titus 3:1-11 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, to speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

    There is more!

James 3:13-16, 17-18 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

    Acts 20:28-30, 31-32, 33-35
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. (this is where denominations come from, this is what we embrace – Christ is not divided and Christ is not mocked)

Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. (What does the Word of His Grace do?)

I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel. Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Are these the marks of your fellowship? Is this how those in your leadership behave or are their eyes set on the things that will burn, the things of this world and all the prestige this world has to offer? Now the million dollar question do we care?

1 Timothy 5:21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

    James 3:17 KJV
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure , then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Even this example the apostles themselves set so that none was over another. Galatians 2:1-10, Romans 12:9-16, 1 Corinthians 12:22-26, 1 Corinthians 3:1-9
But this is not what what we have received, nor is it what we were taught, nor is it what we practice. We seek mastery over one another and not submission to one another out of Fear of God. Ephesians 5:17-21. I fear it is because we do not possess the Fear of the Lord that all of this continues to be lacking in our fellowships to this day.

May the Lord God Almighty, Maker of heaven and Earth, the only wise judge grant to us the importance of esteeming no man above another and the nessesity to lift him up whom in the worlds eyes isn't much: to listen to, to look upon, to admire for his stature or wit, in order that there be no schism in the body. It is here we give no attention.

As much as our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus had nothing in His manner or appearance that we should desire Him, Isaiah 53:2, how much more so when He looks at us and sees our pride our arrogance, our sin, our filthyness, our rebellion against Him, our insubbordination, our indignation at His word, Proving out hatred of Him in our misconduct in all things. Truly we were once enemies estranged from God alienated without a hope. Ephesians 2:1-4,12

But we are to be so no more

    Ephesians 4:17-25
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk , in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened , being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; if so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

Will we do this I wonder?
