Who owns your children?

Child 1

Today we’re asking, “who owns your children?”  If you think that your kids are the sole responsibility of you and your spouse, there is a growing crescendo of progressive thought that it should be the collective, the government, that ultimately owns them.

You may have heard the recent news story of the MSNBC anchorwoman who told the world in a news promo that your kids don’t belong to you:

We want to hear your thoughts. We’re also going to be talking about the Bible and questions you often hear, like “Who decided what books go in the Bible,” and, “When will Jesus return?” you may have had those questions yourself!

I thought God owned us all. Doesn't he own the cattle on the hillside? If the government thinks they own our kids I'll start sending our government our kids doctor bills and see if the government is willing to pay my kids doctor bills.
If the government does not pay my kids doctor bills well I guess God owns my kids which he does and he has lent my kids to me for a season.
I guess I'm sick and tired of the government trying to run our lives.

Thanks for this eye opening info, Mike and Amy. I found this conservative article that gave more details about Dr. Melissa Harris-Perry's statements. http://politic365.com/2013/04/10/communist-party-

No, Harris-Perry's comments may not be directly from the Communist party. But I do believe her comments come dangerously close to saying the government owns our children. And yes, I belief the concept of "it takes a village to raise a child" comes from Socialism and Communism. Following is a Wikipedia article about the "village" concept: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It_Takes_a_Village

In this blog Melissa Harris-Perry tries to defend herself and her comments, saying conservatives are making "hateful, personal attacks" on her: http://tv.msnbc.com/2013/04/09/why-caring-for-chi

But most of us born again, conservative "far right" Christians are not this gullible. The fact remains, Harris-Perry is extremely far left, on many subjects. Here's an article with some info on Harris-Perry's liberal beliefs: http://www.npr.org/2012/07/20/157070626/msnbc-get… And here's the Wikipedia article on Harris-Perry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melissa_Harris-Perry

    God bless you – Dave

I saw the Melissa Harris-Perry story yesterday while watching a video clip on Yahoo News of Glenn Beck commenting on this "Common Core Standard". The first thing that jumped out at me as I watched them both is that both are in error about who owns the children.

I agree with what "J" commented on above…Does not God own everything, including our children? As I just read in Colossians 1:16 this morning…"all things were created by Him and FOR HIM".
