The “great falling away”

Matthew 24:10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other.
1 Timothy 4:1  The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

FallingawayAre you sensing that the “great falling away” is happening, and that we are now in the age of increased deception? We’re seeing it too, and the overwhelming evidence of apostasy is happening all around us. Our young people are turning away from the faith in droves, and many leaders once thought to be solid preachers of truth are compromising and embracing doctrines of demons.

For as much as we talk about persecution from a world that hates those of us who proclaim Christ, there is one who hates us more. We have an enemy on the prowl, and as watchmen and women, you and I have huge targets on our backs as we try to help our friends and family navigate these confusing times.  And our children. If we don’t ground them in the doctrine of truth, they will fall away with the rest of the world.

Our guest today calls  this increased deception a clever sniper campaign, and our children are in the cross-hairs. Ingrid Schlueter grew up in Christian broadcasting and began producing Christian talk radio at the age of 21. For 7 years, she was publisher of Slice of Laodicea, one of the pioneer Christian blogs covering the compelling spiritual issues of the day. For twenty-three years she produced and co-hosted a syndicated Christian radio show based in Milwaukee, and she currently works as a producer for a Christian radio show in Dallas, researching and tracking the tremendous changes within evangelicalism.

The Matthew 24:10 Text is expounded upon in all the epistals but I would highlight 2 Timothy 3:1-8

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

But we do not turn away, rather we heap these up. Why? The scriptures are clear it is because we do not want our rebellion against God's word, against God Almighty confronted. John 3:18-21 We do not desire to expose ourselves to the full counsel of God's word and truly see the depth of our treachery against God. 2 Timothy 4:3-4

We are commanded in the assembly to test what is being said so that all may be edified, that all may be instructed. The common practice is to not allow this to occure, but rather to go to the person in private where leaders/pastors can prevent the challenge or exhortation from being heard in the assembly. This is allowed because we are a respector of persons and have determined for ourselves who is worth listening to. We use credentials such as education or authorship to bolster this antigod practice. So we have become idolaters using men to feed us rather than Christ Jesus who both Lord and our very lives.

Jeremiah 5:26-31 For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men. As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich. They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge. Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

    Isaiah 66:3-4
..Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.

If we really accept what the scriptures say over and over and do it, the apostasy would have never happened. The fully functioning body of Christ would have prevented the intrusion of behavior found to be out of sorts with the word of God. We would turn them away. 1 Corinthians 3:16-21, 5;11-13, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18. We would note or mark that person 2 Thessalonians 3:14, Romans 16;17. Brothers and sisters this is not talking those people who are against those teachings we have learned from men. Rather it is those who do not hold to or walk in the counsel of the apostles named in the Bible.1 John 4:6.

Phillipians 3:17 Mark those also who do walk in the apostles ways> follow them. Do not follow the others.

Pastors, teachers and those who would call themselves elders beware God will not be mocked:
    Jeremiah 12:10-11, Jeremiah 22:22, Jeremiah 10:21, Jeremiah 23:1, Ezekeil 13:3, 34:2
    Hosea 7:13, Micah 2:1

You are putting yourself in harms way by exalting yourself or by allowing others to exalt you. Do not glory in men in whom there is no Hope nor should you promote it! 1 Corinthains 1:29

Do not desire Lordship for yourself, rather be an example to others showing them how to prefer another ahead of yourself. To not be selfwilled but rather to be concerned with the welfare of one another ahead of your own. Titus 1:7-8

1 Peter 5:1-3 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. 1 Timothy 5:21

Oh Lord God please grant that we may heed your commands regarding our conduct and stop holding up men over your word, and if we teachers and instructors and shepherds may we truly feed the flock sharing our own lives as an example of obedience out of a faith unfeigned and a sincere Love born out of gratitude for Christ Jesus who is the head of the body. May He grant that we by the Holy Spirits power lift up one another at every opportunity, that we may all grow in the grace and knowledge of God.

The "Falling Away" is prophecy and will happen, is happening.

To say, If we really accept what the scriptures say over and over and do it, the apostasy would have never happened. The fully functioning body of Christ would have prevented the intrusion of behavior found to be out of sorts with the word of God. We would turn them away.

The Falling Away is accepting the Scriptures. We cannot stop God's plans, we can only ask to what area of service He needs His body, the Church.

Jesus knows who His are and the falling away shows us who we are in Him. He said to endure to the end, those of who are His witness every day the lies, the deceit, the false teachings that make us sick to our stomachs as well as break our hearts for those doing the deception.

We are commanded to love our enemies, and as the Bible clearly states the world is at enmity with God, so they will hate us too. But we must pray for them because this is where we are most effective, prayer.

Yes, we are living prophecy that Jesus and the Apostles foretold and while it is frightening and sad, at the same time it is both awesome and a blessing to be witnessing prophecy as we get closer to the return of our Lord.

The church, His Church, the Body of Christ needs to do more fasting and praying. Not just individually, but as a whole. I don't see anyone calling us to do that for our lost brothers and sisters.

No, there is no way any one could have prevented the falling away from occurring, and to say we could is against Scripture. Nice idea, but we do not have the power to do so, nor the authority. Besides, why would we? I for one want the Lord to return sooner rather than later, and if His Word says this is one of the signs of His imminent return, Praise the Lord, Thank You Jesus! Don't you want that too?

from a sister in Christ Jesus, love to all, and may you Glorify God this day!

The falling away has been happening since Hort and Westcott translated the bible and any derivatives they have spawned. We see the results in our churches today. (The Eddie longs, T.D. Jakes, Joel Osteen, and so many more). We can't read the real Word of God because most of the translations are from the text used by these two men. You need a geneva bible 1560 or king James bible 1611.

Sorry, it's not the translation, it's the quashing of the Holy Spirit. I'd like to say that it's a result of some parties claiming the Holy Spirit is gone and the heart of men seeking to find something, anything to replace what you've taken away. But I would be wrong. It's more like a return of Simon Magus wielding the power that the Apostles withheld from him. No, the Geneva or KJV bible isn't going to save anyone.

The Lord has told me that he is readying changes in the Church his Bride and his new thing in the Church will be rejected by many in the Church. This is the great falling away. He further told me that this is not a Tribulation event and that this is a NOW word. Not sure what to do with this as I am not a Prophet. 2-11-14

No Ester, you are not hearing from the Lord that He is going to do a new thing. Please test the spirits and hold everything up to the Scripture. Jesus told us exactly what will happen in the end times. If a "new thing" is rejected by Christians, it will be because it goes outside of what the Word of God says.
If you continue to get this prompting, ask the Lord God Jesus Christ to reveal truth to you in His Word. The real Holy Spirit always points us to Jesus as Son of God, third Person of the Trinity, who will reveal our true hearts and convict us when necessary. We do not want to be following another "jesus" or another gospel. Praying for you, and asking others here to do the same.

I'm never sure what "the Lord told me" means. Does it mean that our Lord appeared out of thin air at the kitchen table to reveal a new truth? Does it mean that a disembodied voice rang out from the ether to reveal heretofore unknown revelation? I agree that we all need to test the spirits if we are “hearing” the Lord.
