Simpler than that

WordsRules, legalism, guilt and discouragement. Are we misunderstanding what the Gospel is really about?   Even those who claim true freedom in Christ usually complicate Christianity, because of the way they define “freedom.”

Joining us today is Dave Wager, the author of several books and the  president of Silver Birch Ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute in northern Wisconsin. Dave is also the president of a ministry called The Omega Force, a catalyst that helps Christians learn the Word of God through college-level courses that anyone can take online.

One Response to Simpler than that

  1. Mr Davis says:

If we have been set free by Christ John 8:36, that has been accomplished by the Holy Spirit. If we have not the Holy Spirit we are not free. Romans 8:5-11, John 3:5-8, John 1:12-13, Ephesians 2:1-5, 1 John 2:27. What are we free to do. We have been freed from bondage in service to our flesh and the lusts of the world 1 John 2:15-17. We have been freed to serve one another for the sake of one another and not our own sake. We have been freed from fear to preach the good news of salvation in Christ Jesus urging mankind everywhere to repent, that is to consider all, everything you have learned, all you have accomplished, all you have possession of that it is nothing and worth nothing in comparison to being known of Christ and being found in Him not having our own righteousness but His which alone is perfect which He demonstrated by His own blood. John 17:19

The reason for doing this is in John 15:16, Ezekiel 36:22, 31-32. He will vindicate His own name and bring Glory to Himself and He will use you to do it. This seems kind of selfish until you consider it is God we are talking about. I am not down playing God's love for mankind here, or His longsuffering nature to our own rebellion, but He alone is worthy of all our adoration and all our love and we choose to show Him contempt in our rebellion and stuborness which we demonstrate in our laying aside of God's word. 1 Samuel 15:22-23. If we are abiding in Christ we will not do this thing. John 15:1-10

Love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul with all your mind with all your strength.

Love one another as I have loved you and greater love have no one than this that they lay down their life for their friends. For I came not to be served but to serve and give my life as a ransom for many.

See ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added onto you. Dear Christian we are not at home we are homeward bound, dear Christian we are strangers and aliens here and therefore we should not have the same tastes as the world has, nor desire what the world desires. Dear Christian may we comprehend that if He is righteous He alone is right. His word alone is perfect and we are very very imperfect. Righteousness is found in only agreement with God as revealed in His word not only by mental assent but in obedience in every aspect of life and living. All else is wickedness. 1 Corinthians 1:19-21. Christ Himself confirmed this message with His mouth Matthew 5:17-19 and with His resurrection Isaiah 53:10, Hebrews 1:1-3
