He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1
When it comes to success and the American dream, why do we keep doing the same things expecting different results? It’s the classic definition – not of success – but of insanity. Today we are going to look at how the Bible defines success. Jesus shows us time and time again how He defines success, and how He doesn’t.
The Rich Young Man (in Matthew 19:16) who approached Jesus thought he was successful.
The wealthy man with overflowing barns (in Luke 12:16) could have retired and lived on easy street.
And the wealthy man (in Luke 16:19) who wouldn’t even give poor Lazarus the scraps from his table thought he was the epitome of success.
Joining us today is Dave Wager, the author of several books and the president of Silver Birch Ranch and Nicolet Bible Institute in northern Wisconsin. Dave is also the president of a ministry called The Omega Force, a catalyst that helps Christians learn the Word of God through college-level courses that anyone can take online. Dave will be speaking at the No Regrets Men’s Conference at Christ The Rock in Menasha tomorrow.
Here is a sermon Dave did recently on abiding in the shadow of the Most High, titled, Dwell.
