Preach it or live it?

English: 4th day of Evangelism training at Hun...

As Christians in the Body of Christ, many people are being taught that our mission on this earth is to feed the poor and minister to the sick. And yes, we are to do that as Jesus says.

But our main focus as Christians, according to Jesus, is to go into the world and make disciples. So how do we best do that in a world that not only doesn’t know Him, but is increasingly hostile toward believers?

We’re going to talk today about making Him known with our guest, Heath Pucel of the Burnbrothers Ministry,  an organization that trains Christians on how to overcome their fear and share their faith.

  1. Mr Davis says:

Since discipleship starts right away as soon as someone sees or hears you: living and speaking cannot be seperated they must agree.

1 Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned , and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

You speak of the love the Christ you had better come at people from a position of humility and meekness understanding what manner of man you once were and how depraved you still are. How you loved the darknes and hated the light because your deeds were evil.

You want to speak of offending a holy and righteous God acknowledge your own offenses and your blindness to your own sin and what Christ Jesus did about it. How He opened your eyes to the truth and your sins and how horified you were to discover your offense for if you break one law you break them all.

You want to talk about the justice of God and His hatred of sin, explain the crucifixion and how our Savior was prepared for that event. How he was opened up to let the blood flow, his appearance mared so much more than any man, His form more than the sons of man, and how He poured out His soul unto death even death on the cross so shall He spinkle many peoples.

You want to talk about the mercy of God remind them God did not have to share with us our offenses towards him or warn us of a coming judgement if we do not repent. The wages of sin is death and all have sined and fallen short of the glory of God all deserve death. But, God sent His Son for this very purpose to conquer death and attone for our sins for all that would receive Him. For all that would receive Him, Christ Jesus, He gave them power to be the sons of God even to them which would believe on His name and so he would grant them eternal life. That power is the Holy Spirit of Promise.

You want to talk about the grace of God speak of the rebirth by the Holy Spirit of God and by whom we are sealed and in whom we are equiped to live this life in Holiness in submission to the righteousness of God 2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

You want to talk about the Glory of God

He did all of this not for our sake but for His Namesake for His own Glory that we may live to the Glory of God and no longer for ourselves. That we would no longer have any faith in our flesh but rather only in the completed work of Christ, who sits at the right hand of the Father in the heavenlies and interceeds for us to this very end. Oh that we would be ashamed and confounded for our own wickedness and repent.

I remember our "Thursday Night Visitations" at the Southern Baptist Church. All us men got in cars and drove to the local bankers house, or chamber of commerce president…or someone who we think would make a 'good church member' if we could get them back into church. We stood around in their carport talking about the Razorbacks and the weather.
