Discernment for these times

Today we are talking about discernment ministries and the role of the “watchman.”  Ezekiel 33 speaks of the watchman, and we know we are to test the spirits in all things:

1 John 4:1  Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

If you haven’t checked out our Resources Page with links to many of the hundreds of discernment research sites available today, here is the link.   We believe that the duty of Watchmen and Discernment Ministries to point out error or potential problems without being vicious. Interestingly, not all discernment ministries agree on every point. How then can we as discernment ministries stand for the truth in love, without attacking one another when disagreements come up?

Joining us for the discussion today is long time radio talk show host Jan Markell, founder and president of Olive Tree Ministries, a non-profit organization has been watching the times in the Church since 1982. Her nationally-syndicated radio program “Understanding The Times” is heard around the world.

Jan will also discuss how the growth of Replacement Theology has lead many churches to not discuss end times prophecy.

One Response to Discernment for these times

  1. Mr Davis says:

What is so appealing about replacement theology? Because the Lord promises blessings on His people: material blessings, for God will once again spoil the nations and poor it out upon His people.

So the appeal is the lust of the eyes after material things that drives this belief. Coveting is no longer sin, its just desiring what God promises to his people whom He has chosen. Health, Wealth and Prosperity and who doesn't want that?

This ignors the call to those who will be saved to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to forsake this world and all it offers. If any will come let him deny himself, pick up his cross daily and follow me. Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. IF any be in Christ he should walk as Christ himself walked. Who came not to be served or to enjoy the pleasures this world has to offer but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. And we are called to love one another the same way he loved us: He laid down His life for us and so we must also do if we are his disciples. John 14, 15

John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

1 Peter 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; 2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

So I understand its appeal and I also understand for the Christian it is wrong to think Christ Jesus lies when he says if you follow him, in this world you will have trouble but fear not I have overcome the world.

Yes He is resurrected from the dead proving His mastrery over sin and death. Yes He is risen indeed proving the Fathers acceptance of His attoning work on the cross, His redemptive work of mankind. Yes in Christ Jesus there is victory over sin and death and the world. Amen!
