If we only knew real Hope

The Skinner Butte Cross at New Hope Christian ...

In the Bible, Elijah, Moses and David as well as many others witnessed God reveal Himself to the people, as if to boldly declare: “Today I will show them who I Am.” When will we learn who He is and where the real hope and change come from?

In a church, we can grow in numbers, but we can’t grow in spirit without hope and change. What do those two words really mean from God’s point of view? If we really claim to know the answer, why do we still depend on the world for our hope, and ourselves for change?

With us today is Dave Wager, the author of several books and the  president of Silver Birch Ranch and Nicolet Bible College in northern Wisconsin. Dave is also the president of a ministry called The Omega Force, a catalyst that helps Christians learn the Word of God through college-level courses that anyone can take online.

  1. Mr Davis says:

We had this discussion before how we seem to have no victory over our sins and we keep falling into the same old paterns.

For those who know they are forgiven and are covered by the blood of Christ, having His righteousness, being hid in Him and all of this revealed by the Holy Spirit and not some man. We need to know how weak we are against our own flesh and how desperate we are for Christ. We need to know it is God who works in us both to know and do His good perfect and pleasing will. When we realize we are unable to overcome our own desires we throw ourselves at Christ's mercy and plead with Him for Him to do with us and work in us as He wills instead of giving us over to our own selfish will. This is so important to understand this and to know our own depravity. We do not stand on our own. If we stand it is because Christ makes us to stand and what we do then becomes apparent to us that it is wrought in God. All praise be to God.

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned : but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

  2. Mr Davis says:

A soldier needs to learn to keep his armor on, boots on and his helmet on and His belt on and pick up his shield and sword and stand your ground. When we lay these down we become vulnerable to attack. We have yet to understand the nature and constancy of the war that is raging.

A soldier standing guard keeps refering to his general and special orders in order to determine the proper course of action in any given situation, likewise we to must learn to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ:

who though being The Son of God who was and is from everlasting to everlasting, set aside His divine rights and glory, to become our servant in obedience to the Father will, even taking on the form in every way a man, even being born as a man and at the proper time gave His life as a ransome for many, which, He did even after pleading with the Father if it is Possible let this cup pass from me yet not my will but yours be done and after taking our sins into His own flesh, He purged Himself of our sins in that He poured out His blood unto death even death on the cross and in so doing fulfilled in Himself the due punishment for our sins, for any who would receive it, for is was no mere man but the Lord, the Lord of Glory who was crucified. This is the obedience we as believers are called to and the example we must look to for our guidance.

This will of God is not hidden He has revealed it to us in His word, His Holy Scriptures.

When trials come they test our metal and help us to know our hearts and where our faith really lies. Thankfully we have a God who is sympathetic to our situation who was tried in all ways the same as we yet without sin. He it is who intercedes at the right hand of God on our behalf. Oh what a Savior we have in Jesus.

When we are tried and resist folding and caving in to the world and the lusts that war within us, even to the shedding our own blood for His namesake, happy are we, for we now know what strength there is in Christ and now nothing else matters and truely truely our eyes are set on the one we serve and His coming Kingdom of Glory.

All Praise to God, Praise be to God our Lord and Our Savior, Our Christ and Our King who Is Jesus. May we truely understand who it is who stood in our place and by whose stripes we are healed.
