When God gets a “boo” and a thumbs down

The DNC has decided to put “God” back in the Democratic National Convention’s platform, and along with adding a reference to God, delegates also recognized that Jerusalem is indeed the capital of Israel.

The amendments were introduced yesterday by former Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, an ordained United Methodist minister. Whether or not the party actually got its 2/3 vote to pass the amendment is in question, as there were a whole lot of “boos” and thumbs down, even angry shouts by many of the attendees.

It took three roll call votes –which were too close to call. But the motion passed, and the booing crescendo increased:

It all started on Tuesday when delegates approved an amendment to not include a reference to God. The Democratic Party has mentioned God in previous platforms – once in 2008, seven times in 2004 and four times in 2000.

Regarding Israel, the former governor stated that since President Obama recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the Democratic Party’s platform “should as well.”

The amendments read:

“We need a government that stands up for the hopes, values, and interests of working people, and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential.”

“Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel. The parties have agreed that Jerusalem is a matter for final status negotiations. It should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths.”

  1. "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Galatian 6:7

"If I forget you, O Jerusalem, May my right hand forget her skill." Psalm 137:5

"1Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? 2The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
3Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
5Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure." Psalm 2:1-5

  2. Mr Davis says:

    Isaiah 66

Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. 4 I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called , none did answer ; when I spake , they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.

We should all of us heed this. We will always struggle with our self will which isn't the same as God's will. That is why Spiritual Rebirth is required so that the Lord Himself will Change our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Therefore work out your salvation in fear and trembling knowing it is the Lord who works in us both to know and do His good perfect and pleasing will. Jesus Christ never claimed to be the head of our country but He is the Head of the true body of Christ those who have been translated from the kindom of darkness and into His wonderful light.

All others are children of disobedience and serve him who is against Christ Jesus.

This is simply a symptom of a spiritual disease in America. It's called sin.

  4. Rose Vosburgh says:

Just another example of why judgment can't be far off for America. God has been patient with us for a long time…the most blessed nation in the world and we have forgotten where those blessings came from. His patience must be about ready to give way to his holy wrath.

  5. Mary Adams says:

Now that I am officially “OLD”, my thinking seems to be getting in the way of having to live among this
    present generation.

Funny, the word “God” could be banned from a convention platform, yet freely used in gutter language by anyone. Just add an expletive to go with it.

Perhaps the greatest irony took place in the same convention, but on another platform: the speaker’s. (Maybe it was the teleprompters which hadn’t been notified) for they said: “Be sure when you’ve delivered your rousing speech that your last words include, “God bless you all and God bless America!”. Smile big and wave your hand!”

And the DNC denied God three times…sound familiar?
