How Wisconsin’s war on liberty is shaping America’s Church

Thanking first God for His abundant grace, and for his family, faith and freedom, a political battle came to an end two nights ago in Wisconsin for the first governor to ever survive a recall election. And while we don’t get overly political on Stand Up For The Truth, we do talk about what effect our challenging political climate is having on the Church at large.

Some of the movements that threaten free speech from the pulpit, family and marriages are out there in the open for all to see and react to. But there are challenges behind the scenes that you’ll want to know about. So this hour we’re going to take a look at those. A little later in the program, Dr. Jake Jacobs, author of the book Mobocracy: This is what Democracy Looks Like, will be here to share why these threats aren’t going away, and what you can expect in the months ahead.

But in this first segment, we’re checking in with Julaine Appling of Wisconsin Family Action. She is a warrior for families and marriage in Madison Wisconsin, not an easy environment in which to stand up for Truth.

The education arm of WFA is Wisconsin Family Council, and here Julaine works to forward Judeo-Christian principles and values by informing citizens, churches and policymakers about important pro-family legislative and cultural issues so they will be inspired to get involved in preserving and strengthening marriage and family in Wisconsin.

Gov. Walker and Jake Jacobs

In our second half, Dr. Jake Jacobs shares his unique historical perspective on where we’ve come from and we are headed.  Jake’s book Mobocracy covers the cultural and political war to destroy our republic and our God.  His passion and ministry is to teach, preach, proclaim those roots in Churches Seminars across America.  He also speaks to civic groups and partners with Freedom Project Education. 1. Sandy Sheltrow says:

I have 2 concerns about how people (mostly Christians) are approaching the upcoming presidential election. I often hear comments like:

    1. "if I vote for the lessor of two evils, I'm still choosing an evil and I won't do that." My main response is "what are you? I thought all have fallen short of the glory of God. How did you get so good?"

I have too much respect for the office of president than to just watch it fall into the hands of someone who I do not see respecting our Constitution.

    2. "Romney is a Mormon, I can't vote for him." Then I respond, "we are not electing a pastor, we are electing our president."

I have too much respect for The First Amendment to deny it to an American with whom I disagree. Mormonism is different from Biblical Christianity but as an American, Mr. Romney has the freedom to be a Mormon. I respect that freedom and pray for his freedom from it and salvation in the true Jesus Christ. I hope that Mr. Romney is wise enough to avoid trying to say that Mormonism is just another Christian denomination and focuses on the First Amendment while we Christians pray for him.

  2. Mr Davis says:

I'm sure this will draw fire but time is to short to care.

As long as we are talking about the church right, if we are called to do anything it is repent and keep on repenting and do acts consistent with repentance, acts which are consistent with righteousness. Keep preaching the Gospel of Christ Jesus to ourselves as Paul who was Saul of Tarsus taught it. Not some Romans Road. And be willing to share it with others. We don't share it because we don't know it. I suspect it is really worse than that. I suspect we don't have salvation ourselves and thats why we hope in man and place our faith in what man can do.

We are supposed to tremble at His word, which are His decrees and we are to do what Christ requires of us in them. But His word we refuse to pick up and read so we may know for ourselves what the word of God says. The Whole Counsel! No Cherry Picking.

    What would that be exactly?

    Namely this
Stop living for this world for it is perishing! Live for Heaven's Sake, Live for God's Namesake, not your own sake. For as long as you are seeking to save this life and what you cherish in it you are not focusing on Heaven. Your concern is here and on what this life has to offer.

Don't you see that when we do these things we are practicing Idolatry. You cannot serve two masters. Which then will it be? Prince of this world or the King who is in Heaven.

Where are you thoughts focused? Where, on self preservation? What are we trying to save? This body of Death. May it not be so!

Jesus Christ went to the Cross to put to death sin in His flesh, to kill it. What are we trying to preserve?

    Romans 8:36 KJV
As it is written , For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

    James 5
10 Take , my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. 11 Behold , we count them happy which endure . Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

No I think this so called Christian Activism Mentality is nothing more than morally justified selfish ambition, bent on self preservation.

    1 Peter 1
13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written , Be ye holy; for I am holy. 17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. 22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again , not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

It is the Cross that is the power of God unto salvation not voting for man, so preach, be ready in season and out to have an answer for any who ask of the hope that is within you.

Place all your Hope is Christ Jesus, Submit to His complete Lordship, Be willing to endure hardship for His namesake. Do good for His Namesake, so His name be not be evil spoken of because of you. Act in humility towards all men, there is absolutly nothing to brag about in us. All men are as grass. All men. God holds each one in His hand, the evil, and the elect which, God Himself has cleared and declared them righteous and that by His Son Jesus Christ who endured their penalty for sin in His own flesh. May Christ Jesus be Glorified in us!
