Prayer and Politics

Today on this National Day of Prayer, we’re talking about government through the eyes of our faith, plus covering a number of news stories impacting the Church.

Our guest in the first segment today is  Julaine Appling of Wisconsin Family Action, and she is here to clear up confusion over the bizarre recall elections, as we head into the primary elections May 8 and the general elections June 5. (Check out Your Wisconsin Vote  and Government Accountability Board for resources.)

Julaine is an advocate for marriage, family, life and liberty in Madison. The education arm of this organization is Wisconsin Family Council, and here Julaine works to forward Judeo-Christian principles and values by informing citizens, churches and policymakers about important pro-family legislative and cultural issues so they will be inspired to get involved in preserving and strengthening marriage and family in Wisconsin.

One Response to Prayer and Politics

  1. Mr Davis says:

It stuns me the Christian activism pursued in the name of stewardship or should I say the idol of stewardship. Our problem isn't our voting. Our problem is our sin. Our problem is we think if we do wrong to achieve a good end we have done right, so it isn't really wrong.

The Lord doesn't allow for this at least not the God of the Bible. A God we have imagined will allow this, because we allow it.

The law of the Lord is perfect converting the soul. In following the law of God there is no contradiction but in our sin and our wicked minds we perceive there are. We say we have a Godly Country with its foundation on the word of God yet our very political system is set up to cause everyone who participates in it to sin.

God says don't show partiality that is to prefer one man over another. James chapter 2:8-9 Yet this is what voting is.

God says it is the foolish man who compares himself against other men in an effort to justify himself. 1 Corinthians 10:12 This is exactly what campaining is!

I tell you it is no accident that the Christian voting block has been lacking. Shall we make ourselves transgressors to establish a fool over us.

Yes by all means for that is your right! if you want to vote! For that is the only way you can vote. Choose a fool from amounst yourselves to lead you.

Our problem isn't how we are voting our problem is our sin. What does Isaiah say?

Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened , that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. 59:1-2

Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called , none did answer ; when I spake , they did not hear : but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not. Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said , Let the LORD be glorified : but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. 66:3-5

Lord Act Now we have made null your word. We love to follow after transgression. Please Lord God open our eyes to our folley!!
