Is Lordship Salvation throwing cold water on your easy button?

I really enjoy Justin Edwards’ articles, and have shared several of them now on our site because they really make us think about what it means to be Christ’s.
Today he is sharing two very different teachings about saving grace. Many churches today say that all you have to do to be saved is to say a quick formulaic prayer asking Jesus into your heart, and grace covers the rest. Need to repent? Just change your mind about God, and you’re set. But what about conviction of sin, and making Him the Lord of your life? No matter what you’ve been taught or where you weigh in, you’ll want to take a look at Justin’s blog over at Airocross

  1. Mr Davis says:

    What is a correct testimony?

Oh that we would cling to God's word! This from John 7

15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? 16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

And if only Pastors would take this to heart. Oh how we love to puff ourselves up saying to themselves surely my story shall reveal the truth.
18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory:

but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. (this same person does the Fathers will and teaches others to do the same. See 1 Corinthians 4:15-18)

    John 8
13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.

14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go. 15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. 17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true. 18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.

54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: 55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him:

and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

We cannot muster faith or repentance nor any good in and of ourselves. If it were not so Christ death would not have been necessary.
    Romans 8:
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. (See also 1 John 4)

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (See Galatians 5:17, James 4:5)

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. (See 1 John 2:25-27)

No man can tell you whether or not you are borne again because he cannot see your motives whether they are pure or not. But you yourself can know.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

    Galatians 4:6 KJV
And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

So the truth is not what we say about ourselves but what God says about us all of it and if believe that, we are his!

    John 8

43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. 46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? 47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

Praise be to God our Father and to Christ Jesus who made your Glory Known. May our Father grant to us that we follow in His servants steps and Glorify the Father and bring Glory to him whom the Father sent.

May you all find the peace found in Christ.
